Eric Schmidt, Google’s chairman, engaged in an active fireside chat session and shared his perspectives on entrepreneurship, disruptive technologies and building a Silicon Valley ecosystem in India at the NASSCOM Start-up Program Launch held today in Delhi, India.
Schmidt shared many tips for start-ups motivating them to invest more in mobile apps and mobile technology. According to him, “Mobile is the next big thing. It was the next big thing last year and the year before.” He further states that the biggest opportunity for start-ups in India is in the mobile apps and data analytic space. The cost of smart-phones has reduced significantly. With more advanced cheaper versions flooding the market, every urban individual in the future is going to have a smart-phone with an internet connection and that is why start-up businesses should focus on having a mobile strategy.

I would like to add that there are also copycat versions of smart-phones in the black market which are way too cheap to be ignored. Meaning, more and more people are switching to mobile searches and purchases. So if that’s the case, better get smart and have a mobile marketing strategy.
